>>> Genesis 28:16 “And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.”
We know from the story of Jacob and Esau (Ch. 27) that Isaac their father blessed Jacob the younger by being deceived of Jacob. Don’t forget that the Lord told Rebekah it would be so before they were born. Isaac then sends Jacob to Laban’s house to find a wife of his people so that he will not marry a daughter of Canaan.
So Jacob obeys and sets out to Laban’s house. On the journey, he stops to rest, goes to sleep and dreams of the ladder reaching to Heaven as angels ascend and descend.
When he wakes, Jacob realizes that he is in the presence of the Lord.
What spoke to me this morning was that Jacob lived his life up until this point, knowing that the Lord was with his father Isaac, and Abraham before him; yet he knew Him not!
Do we live our lives from day to day, not knowing that the Lord is in this place? Do we excuse the fact that because we do not see God with our eyes that He must not know what we are doing or where we are?
The God of our fathers, the God of Heaven is in this place! Where you are right now! The Lord desires for you to know Him. He desires your worship, and a relationship with you. Do not let your life pass not knowing that the Lord is in this (where you are right now) place!
