NBC Fall Festival

We are excited about what God is going to do this Saturday as we kick off our Fall Festival at Newton Baptist Church!

We are expecting many families and children from the community to attend, allowing us to share the gospel and minister to them. Please be in prayer with us that the Lord would bless this event for His honor and glory.

We will be having a great time with bounce houses, dunking booth (w/ Bro. Tony), cake walk, carnival games, trunk or treat, and much much more! Mrs. Lori Stapp will be dressed as a clown, and Bro. Dale will have his horse and ostrich friends there too!

Please make sure to invite your friends, family, and neighbors to this special day! Hope to see you there.

God bless,

The Lord used me for Directv!

WOW! I stand amazed at the methods and opportunities to which God wants to use our lives.

I was on the phone tonight with a customer service representative with Directv, seeing what special offers they had for new customers. I had just hung up the phone with DISHNetwork, angry about the charge they wanted us to pay for moving from South Carolina to Georgia. (even though they advertise one free move)

After listening to the sales pitch of Directv, I felt led to ask the lady on the other end of the phone about her day; and how I could pray for her tonight. She went on to share with me that her "preacher" ex husband had left her a few months ago; that on the fourth of July, her sister was hit by a drunk driver and killed, and that she and her teenage daughter and son had recently moved as well.

She asked for special prayer for her daughter; Shelby Brober age 16. Her daughter is angry with God and does not want to have anything to do with church, Christians, or the Lord because of what has been going on. As I listened, I began to share Romans 8:28 with her; and before I could finish, she quoted the rest of the verse for me and said that was her favorite verse. I went on to encourage her with my life verse; Acts 20:24 and she thanked me for that. Before we hung up the phone, we had a word of prayer for her, her daughter and son, and that even through hardships; that she could finish her course with joy and testify the gospel of the grace of God.

I am humbled in my spirit tonight that God would use me in such a manner, and how in His omniscience would place me on the other end of the telephone line with Ms. Brober; who needed a word of encouragement, and special prayer tonight.

Acts 20:24 "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God."

Is the Bible important to you?

I heard this on the radio today and decided to look it up. Is it fitting in your life? How much do we neglect God’s Word, but will cling for dear life to our cell phone? How important is the Bible to you?

Stephen Underwood
Acts 20:24

Author Unknown:

What would happen if we treated our Bible

like we treat our cellphone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to think about. Where is my Bible?

Unlike our cell phone,
we don’t have to worry about our Bible being
disconnected

because Jesus already paid the bill…

And NO DROPPED CALLS!
