June 2018 Prayer Letter

My heart is so full as I write this month’s prayer letter. My family and I have been so encouraged this week by a group from our home church, Newton Baptist, and my Pastor and his wife, Tony and Stacey Howeth.

It is hard to believe that their time here in South Africa has already come to an end, but I trust that what God has begun in my heart and theirs will continue to bear fruit for a long time!

On their first full day in Port Elizabeth, we attended a public primary school where Bro Tony preached to nearly 1,000 young people plus the staff and teachers! God opened the door for the gospel in this area, Kuyga, where Missionary Kevin Hall is currently starting a church.

Then, on Wednesday, the group from Newton Baptist, another group from Calvary Baptist in Hiawassee, GA, and roughly 45 folks from the Missionvale area gathered in Lulu’s living room for our weekly bible study and prayer! Pastor Nate Browning brought a great message on the liberty we have in Christ and how we must use that liberty to serve Him! Then Bro Tony brought our second message that left absolutely no doubt that each and every one of the 45 from Missionvale heard a clear and concise gospel message!

I ask that you all will continue to pray for our efforts in Missionvale as we desire to reach them with the gospel of Christ, train young men, and start churches all around Port Elizabeth as a result of our labor!

Though I will miss my pastor and church folks dearly, I am more than excited to hear about the decisions made, and hearts stirred to carry the gospel to the world as they head back to Covington, GA tomorrow. I believe that God will continue to use this missions trip in their lives, and in my own!

Thank you all for your continued love, prayers, and support of our family!

Almost back together!

This is an exciting week for our Project South Africa team! After more than a year, we are almost all back together!

Jeremy and Rebekah Hall returned from a short furlough on Saturday after 4 months stateside. During that time, Ashlee and I were able to fill in at Soweto Baptist Church in their absence. It was a great time of growth in the language, but also in ministry! I am grateful for that opportunity we had and still have to serve!

As of this moment, Mark and Amy Coffey are 30 minutes away from landing in Johannesburg! Amy and the girls have an overnight layover, while Mark and the guys will be driving the 12 hours south with luggage to Port Elizabeth! They don’t know it yet, but we will have some special treats waiting for them tomorrow when they arrive!

I look forward to seeing God work in our team and the ministries we are a part of! I am excited to see the lives impacted by Camp Rhino and the continued growth in our local churches among the Xhosa people! After a year and a half on the field, I can honestly say that I am still living my dream! God is good!

I would ask you to please pray for Peyton, our oldest. About two weeks ago, he was bitten by a tick, and developed tick bite fever. He has been very weak, and sick for nearly two weeks. After the first trip to the doctor and not seeing results of his medication, and the advice from our missionary friends in Taiwan (the Taube’s); we took him back and received some stronger antibiotics. This seems to have helped and he is improving each day. We are hoping he is almost back to normal by the weekend! Please pray with us for that!

As always, thank you all for your prayers, love, and support for our family!

Special Prayer Request

I would like to ask each of you to pray with me for a young man named Nicolas Looney. He is 16 years old and lives in Florida. He recently had a kidney transplant that his body is rejecting and has been in the hospital for quite some time! I have been communicating with his grandfather, David Looney, in Mobile, AL and receiving updates on his condition.

The Lord’s hand is in this situation and we know that He is The Great Physician, and is still in complete control! I ask that you pray with us for Nicolas to have strength and comfort. I ask that you pray with me for his family. I couldn’t imagine what they are dealing with at the present time. I ask that they have a sweet awareness of the Holy Spirit of God during these trying days and that more than anything, Christ’s name be magnified!

Thank you all for your faithful prayers!
