It has been a wild and exciting first month on the mission field!
Its amazing to think that just over a month ago, we were boarding a plane to make the trip with our family to South Africa! Now, we are getting to experience that which we have worked for while on deputation; and I must say, it is very rewarding!
Today, Ashlee and I began a new phase of ministry; language school! After just a few short hours, I am beginning to feel better about the “clicks” that the Xhosa language uses. I look forward to reporting over the coming months just how we progress in this language!
Earlier this week, I had the privilege to accompany a fellow missionary, Bro Jerrold Myers, to a public school where we passed out bibles to students and teachers alike! That was a great experience in itself.
Also, Bro Jeremy Hall started going through “Foundations” discipleship material with some young folks at Soweto Baptist Church! I was able to listen and try to participate as much as I could. It is an awesome thing to see believers being discipled and taught to teach others also!
I would ask each of you to pray with us about the following:
- Language School!
I have witnessed and experienced first hand just how important it is to communicate with the Xhosa people in their “mother tongue!” Some of the simplest words can be misconstrued and cause confusion. We desperately want to see the Gospel clearly proclaimed in a way that is perfectly understood!
- Young Men to be trained!
I have began developing relationships with some young men that I pray will allow me to pour my life into. There is a great foundation that has been established by my co-laborers, but I have an individual responsibility to train men as instructed in 2 Tim 2:2! I believe that God can and will use the Xhosa people to do a great work around the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ!
- Pray for the established churches here in Port Elizabeth to be strengthened and matured! God is greatly blessing the churches started by our team, Project South Africa! May they continue to grow and mature in the word of God that we will be able to start other works around this city and country for the glory of God!
Thank you all for your continued love, prayers, and support of our family!
