Saturday’s in South Africa / November 2015 Prayer Letter
Today and tomorrow are bitter sweet days for me and my family. Today, we celebrate the best part of my family; my wife! Today is Ashlee’s birthday! I am so thankful for the wife God gave me almost eight years ago! She is the backbone of our family, the encourager to me and my sons, and the caretaker of our home! (Even on the road!!!) I grow to love her more each day, and I am motivated by her love for God and our family!
Tomorrow, however, will be the ONE year anniversary of the home going of my dad, Larry Underwood. This time last year, my family and I were at a mission’s conference in Knoxville, TN. We had spent the night before at mom and dad’s as we headed north to the meeting. That Friday evening, dad’s last words to mom was what he was planning for breakfast. (Pancakes and bacon)
When he didn’t get up at his normal time the next morning, mom went to check on him and found that he had passed away. Dad was 54 years old when he suffered a massive heart attack in his sleep.
After one year, I am still in awe of the grace of God! My heart still hurts, but is comforted by the Father’s love! We still have “days”, but His grace is all sufficient! I can only sing God’s praises for His goodness to me and my family!
I humbly ask that during this time, you remember my mom in prayerespecially, but that with each passing day, comfort and peace will abound in our lives. I ask that you pray for God’s will to be done, regardless if we understand it, that He may have free course to work all things together for good! I pray that I will ever be given to getting Christ’s gospel to the world, and that this trial will be used for that purpose!
Thank you for your continued love, prayers, and support of our family!
