There are a few times throughout the year that my excitement for a movie release is greater than most. I have fallen back into “ten year old boy” mode on several occasions; such as, when Man of Steel was released, or The Avengers before it.
However, I do not remember a time when I have been more excited about a video than I am for the release of the India Film Project!
I was able to watch a pre-release viewing of the film and am left with only a greater desire to make Jesus known throughout the world. The film introduces us to a young man named Das, his desire to learn and teach the gospel to others, and some of the struggles of being a Christian in a “religious” culture.
The truth is that reaching India with the gospel, training men like Das, and seeing live’s changed through Jesus Christ; for us, is quite an impossible task! But I am SO glad that we serve The God of Impossible!
I look at Das and am convinced that he faces many of the same struggles that you may be facing. I look at Urvashi, and though she has endured a very challenging childhood, paid a price far more than we can imagine in the comfort of our own living rooms; there is not much special in her.
You see, the real truth is that there is nothing special in them, nor us! The “hero” in the story of the gospel working in India is Jesus! Jesus saved a man named Das! Jesus saved a young lady named Urvashi! Jesus saved and sent a missionary name Jim Roberts to India with the gospel of Christ! Jesus is the HERO!
I am convinced now, more than ever, that Jesus is making Himself known to India through folks like Das, like Jim, and like you! I am convinced now, more than ever, that there is a work greater than any of us are capable, and that if we will simply submit and obey, we can be used of God to see millions more reached through the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Right now, I could list the names of men and women all over the world that would tell you that they are anything but “heroic.” They would tell you that Jesus is the Hero, that He loves them, that He loves the world, and because He loves the world, He desires that the world be saved!
I am excited about the India Film Project, not because of the great talent and work that has gone into it. (Although, that is very evident in it’s filming.) I am excited about the India Film Project because I believe that God will use it to further His gospel to a people that have never heard, and that He will raise up laborers who will give themselves to take that message to them!
Will you consider premiering this film in your church? Will you pray and ask God to do a work in India, in the hearts of your people, and even in yourself? Will you ask God to give you a burden and desire to see India come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ?
