Well, 2012 is more than half way over already! I always remember my parents saying that the older you get, the more quickly time will fly. I just never believed it until I woke up one day and am now…OLD!
While there still remains quite a bit of “kid” in me, I’ve found that days, weeks, and years are becoming shorter and shorter. The great thing about time flying by so quickly is; cool weather, bonfires, turkey and dressing; and fall and winter comes more often!
I love this time of year! There are several events coming up that I am particularly excited about, and I’ll do my best to list them in order.
First; this Thursday evening we are hosting our second “Mighty Men’s Fellowship” at Newton Baptist Church! We’ll be eating Bro. William Mitchell’s famous barbecue, having a guest preacher, and a wonderful time of worship and fellowship with some godly men within our church. This event begins at 6:00 pm Thursday October 11th.
Second; our “Vision for the World” missions conference begins on October 21-24. Pastor Austin Gardner of Vision Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA will be preaching the conference, and we will be blessed to hear testimonies of missionaries from all over the world that are taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to the uttermost! Please be praying with us even now, that God would speak to our hearts about fulfilling His great commission, raising up young people to take the gospel to the world, and that we ourselves would also surrender to God’s will for our lives.
Then; Saturday November 3rd, Newton Baptist Church’s annual Fall Festival will be held at our church campus between 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm. We are extremely excited about hosting this event as an outreach opportunity within our community. There will be many children with their parents that come by for the games, candy, and fellowship that we will have an opportunity to share the gospel with and invite as honored guests to the services on Sunday. Please remember to pray for this event as well!
Lastly; Upwards Basketball and Cheerleading! Last year, I had the privilege of coaching a team of 4th-6th graders in basketball. Though I know nothing about the game; I had the time of my life, made some awesome young friends, and had several weeks of time invested in the lives of a group of young people. The Lord used that time in my life to help me grow and mature in Him as much as in the players I coached.
Will you also get involved? Will you simply share with two people the events that are going on over the next few months at Newton Baptist Church? Will you find someone that you can impact for the Lord Jesus Christ? Allow the Lord to make this approaching holiday season one that will produce fruit in your life and for His kingdom!
And please, don’t forget to pray!
