I’m sure you remember Motel 6’s slogan, “We’ll Leave The Light On For You.” Although that is great for a motel, or even your friends, and family; but that’s no way to think as a church! I heard the statement recently, “that as long as our church doors are open, and our sign light is on; we are having an impact on the community.” Unfortunately, there are too many Christians, and too many churches that feel this same way.
Nowhere in the Bible does God say “start a church, turn the lights on, and people will come.” Why do we base our ministry on this then? The command of our Lord and Savior was to GO, TEACH, BAPTIZE, AND TEACH!
(Jude 22, 23) And of some have compassion, making a difference:And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
If we truly have a desire to make a difference in others lives, and truly have a burden for the souls of men; it must be our priority to go to them! It’s such a sad rebuke to think that we spend the majority of our time and energy planning the next potluck dinner! Or we argue and fight over the drapes and blinds when people are dying without the Lord!
I challenge each of you, for one week forget about making the church “pretty” and concern yourself with reaching the lost. Hell is real folks, the time is near, and before it’s eternally too late, show someone to Christ!
