James 1:4 “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
I have often thought about why “patience” in this verse was referred to as “her”. It’s always been one of those little Bible questions that I’ve had, but never really given much thought to as time passed.
One day, I came home from work to find the house spotless, Peyton was playing quietly in his room, dinner was on the stove, and I just sat down in my recliner and relaxed. That evening, we ate, watched the news, put Peyton to bed and next thing I knew, it was 9:00 pm and Ashlee was out cold!
That is when it occurred to me just how much work goes into raising our son, keeping up with the house, and making sure that I am welcomed home. What patience it must take for my wife to accomplish all this! (not to mention how she puts up with me and Peyton who is my spitting image)
I say all this to say, “Happy Mother’s Day” to the most precious, loving, serving, and patient wife in the world! Ashlee calms me when I am tense, brings me laughter when I am down, loves me when I am unlovable. I love Ashlee Michelle Underwood more and more each day and cannot wait to continue growing more in love with her each passing day. There is no greater joy in my life than being able to serve the God I love right beside the woman that I love.
So, once more, Happy Mother’s Day to my wife! I love you Ashlee!
