One week after Peyton, our oldest, was born; he began hearing week in and week out the gospel of Jesus Christ. He has grown up in church and for almost eight years church has been a major portion of his life. Two years ago, Peyton started asking lots of questions about salvation and why Jesus died on the cross. Each time, I would teach him what the Bible says about salvation, and answer any questions he may have had.
Last year, while getting ice-cream, Peyton finally said; “Dad, I know that I need to be saved and I understand who Jesus is! Can I be saved now?!” Right there, I was able to lead Peyton to trust Jesus Christ as his personal Savior! It was an extremely joyful day for me and Ashlee!
This passed Sunday, I was honored and blessed to not only watch as Peyton followed the Lord in Believer’s Baptism, but to be the one to baptize him! Not only was Peyton baptized Sunday morning, but Neyland, our youngest was dedicated to the Lord!
Then, Sunday afternoon, roughly 27 men of God gathered into a room to encourage, and challenged me for my ordination council! During the service, Ashlee and I were loved on by our home church and heard some wonderful challenges from God’s word from three of my heroes in the faith; Pastor Wayne Cofield, Pastor Austin Gardner, and my Pastor, Tony Howeth!
Talking with Bro Tony afterwards, I commented; “this day will be hard to top in the ministry!” He responded with something that I will always remember; “what top’s this day, is the day you get to do this for one of your sons in the ministry!” I am certainly blessed beyond measure!
Thank you all for your continued love, prayers, and support of our family!
