Gen. 24:48 And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master’s brother’s daughter unto his son.
This passage of scripture is the account of Isaac being blessed with his wife, Rebekah. Isaac’s mother, Abraham’s wife, Sarah had just died. Both Abraham and Isaac were in mourning. Abraham calls to his servant and requests that he go back to the land of his fathers (Abraham’s) and find Isaac a wife, that God may bless His covenant with Abraham.
The servant obeys and comes to a well where he meets Rebekah. Once the servant knows that she is the one chosen of God to marry Isaac, he worships the Lord!
The one statement that is mentioned often in this passage is, “and blessed the LORD God of my master…” The question this morning is not does God desire to bless you? To work in your life? We know that He does! The question this morning I ask you, and I ask of myself is; do others see the Lord in your life? Do the people we work with know that the God of Heaven is your God? Do people that you come in contact with at the store, at your job, in your community, where you live; do they know that you love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength?
Can people say your name and say for sure, that you are a child of God? Not just by your speech, not just by a bumper sticker, and not just by a facebook picture or app. But does your life reflect the Lord Jesus Christ? Do your actions testify the gospel of the grace of God?
Lord, help me to live in the liberty that is in Christ Jesus, showing You to others in everything I say and do!
