I do not normally post a message that I preach as a blog. In fact, most of the time it is opposite. Many times, I have had a blog idea that developed more into a message over time. However, with my Granny’s home going, I wanted to share once more what I believe she would say to anyone she could if she were here now. May each reader know without a doubt where they will spend eternity!
John 14:1-6
1) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2) In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4) And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5) Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
When Dad spoke of Granny growing up, he always joked with us about her disciplining him as a child. He often said that no matter where they were or what they were doing; they could be in the car, or at the grocery store; but when Granny smacked him (probably for him mouthing off) that she somehow had wet, soapy hands.
When it came to Granny, you could always count on one thing; she was to the point. I can only imagine what she say to us if she were here now: “What are you guys crying about? It’s my funeral!”
I also learned something very valuable through all of this…Granny was prepared! She had her plans made, arrangements done, and left us a legacy that helped lift a heavy burden.
More than that, Granny was eternally prepared. As I thought about all the memories, quirks, and characteristics of Granny, I thought about what message she would have for us if she were here today. I believe it would be something like this:
1) Heaven is REAL!
I believe she’d talk about how beautiful it is. She’d tell us that Aunt Sheila was waiting on her. And she’d tell us about how wonderful it is that her faith is now sight! I believe she’d tell us what it is like to hug and worship her Savior!
2) There’s ONLY One Way!
Granny would want us to know that Christ is the only Way to get there. She’d tell us about the nail pierced hands and feet. She’d say EVERYTHING you’ve heard is true! What I have placed my trust in for so long, I can now see Him for who He is.
3) Will you accept Christ TODAY?
There is no doubt in my mind, that if Granny were here today, she’d ask you this very question! She’d want to know that the glorious reunion she has had with Christ will be real for you as well. She’d want you to make a decision to trust Christ today and not to wait.
Today, we walk by faith and not by sight. For Granny, her faith is now sight! If she were here, her greatest message, and her greatest desire would be for everyone; family, friends, neighbors, co workers, the entire world to know Jesus Christ as their Savior! Trust Him and Him alone today!
