I have had the privilege of teaching and serving alongside a great young man by the name of Geoffrey Kirwin. In the time that I have known him, I have seen him grow in the Lord, had the honor of baptizing him, and am now teaching him to lead in the youth department. God is truly using this young man!
Geoffrey was brought to Chapel By The Sea Baptist Church under strange circumstances. Being raised by two older brothers, and his mom as an atheist, he was in a home that had never heard or shared the gospel. In September of 2007, at age 14; Geoffrey was invited to church by a friend. Being very reluctant at first, he was greeted and welcomed with open arms from a friendly church family to which he was not accustomed to.
For the next few months, Geoffrey attended church faithfully by sneaking away from his house, and walking to the church about a mile away. He knew that if his mom found out about him attending church, then there would be no chance of him continuing to learn about the Lord. Then, after several months of the Holy Spirit convicting Geoffrey, and working on his heart; Pastor Jim Brinegar showed him from the word of God how to be saved. Geoffrey trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and has grown in the Lord daily!
Geoffrey is now 17 years old, a senior in high school, and has plans of serving in the U.S. Navy after graduation. (If I have anything to do with it, he’ll be in Bible College
) For the last three years, Geoffrey has continued to sneak off to church and youth activities for fear of his mother’s reaction. This is a sobering thought, that we live in a country free to worship as we please unlike the rest of the world; but it still happens here also.

Please pray for Geoffrey as he makes decisions concerning his future, and that the Lord will give him guidance in these decisions. He is a talented young man, and I know that God has great plans for his life!
